Wissenschaft im Wirtshaus (Science in the pub)

The ICC Water & Health informed the interested public in a relaxed atmosphere about various aspects of water quality and health.

From 19.9. to 19.10.2022 the event series "Water - Quality and Health" took place in the inn "Mauts" in Mödling. After an introductory lecture "Water - Building Block of Life" by guest speaker Prof. Gerald Obermair, the ICC Water & Health informed the interested public on four dates about various aspects of water quality and health. The topics and speakers in detail were:

• "The role of hydrology in water supply" (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Paul Blaschke)
• "Water quality & health: what you should know about it" (Andreas Farnleitner)
• "Bacteria in drinking water - friends or foes?" (Alexander Kirschner)
• "Water in the cycle of human use: water hygiene challenges" (Regina Sommer)

In addition to the comprehensive presentations on the four different topics, visitors to the event were able to ask questions in detail. This opportunity was also used intensively by the interested audience and the discussions lasted until late in the evening. The only downer was the partly moderate number of visitors, a better promotion of the event by the organizers would have been desirable.
