ICC Interuniversity Cooperation Centre Water & Health

The Interuniversity Cooperation Centre Water & Health is a cooperation of the TU Wien, the Medical University of Vienna (MedUni) and the Karl Landsteiner Private University for Health Sciences.

Our goal is to advance the scientific understanding of water quality and its impact on public health to ensure safe and sustainable water resources for future generations.

The Joint Danube Survey is the largest river expedition in the world and has been organized every six years since 2001 by the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR). A total of 1,000 scientists from 100 organizations in 14 countries took part this summer.

The 5th edition of the world's largest river expedition, the Joint Danube Survey (JDS5), is about to begin. Alexander Kirschner is leading the team that will be investigating the microbiological water quality from Germany to the Danube Delta in Romania.
