KL Universitätsklinikum St. Pölten: Karenzvertretung Biowissenschaftler/Molekularbiologe
Voraussichtlich gelangt ab März 2027 am Klinischen Institut für Hygiene und Mikrobiologie im Universitätsklinikum St. Pölten die Stelle eines Biowissenschaftlers/Molekularbiologen als Karenzvertretung in Vollzeitbeschäftigung für 6 Monate zur Besetzung. Die offizielle Ausschreibung wird im Herbst 2026 erfolgen. Ein früherer Eintrittszeitpunkt ist aktuell Gegenstand von Gesprächen, ebenso eine optionale Verlängerung nach Ablauf der Frist von 6 Monaten.
Am Institut sind alle Teilaspekte des Fachgebietes, nämlich Diagnostik, Therapie und Prävention von Infektionen gleichermaßen abgebildet. Bakterien, Viren, Pilze und Parasiten werden sowohl mittels Kulturverfahren als auch molekularbiologisch und infektionsserologisch analysiert. Aufgrund des breiten medizinischen Spektrums des Klinikums gibt es einen engen Austausch mit den klinischen Abteilungen sowie eine große Vielfalt an wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen. Im Rahmen der Lehr- und Forschungstätigkeit an der Karl Landsteiner Privatuniversität für Gesundheitswissenschaften besteht eine enge Kooperation mit einem Forschungsbereich für Mikrobiologie und molekulare Diagnostik.
Erforderliche Qualifikationen
- Ein an einer Universität in der Republik Österreich erworbenes oder anerkanntes Abschlusszertifikat eines biowissenschaftlichen Studienganges
- Expertise in DNA/RNA Sequenzierung und Sequenzauswertung (Bioinformatik) für die Charakterisierung und Identifikation von gesundheitsrelevanten Mikroorganismen und Krankheitserregern
- Expertise in molekularbiologischer Diagnostik
- Erfahrung in bzw. Bereitschaft zu der Betreuung von Studierenden
- Hohe Einsatzbereitschaft sowie Bereitschaft zur Zusammenarbeit in einem interdisziplinären Team
Voraussetzung für eine Tätigkeit beim Land Niederösterreich sind Unbescholtenheit und ein medizinischer Impf-/ Immunitätsnachweis.

MedUni Vienna: Assistant Professor in One Water and Water Hygiene
The Medical University of Vienna is one of Europe’s premiere institutions for biomedical and clinical research. We are looking for a highly qualified scientist in the field of water hygiene/microbiology and One Health with enthusiasm for inter- and multidisciplinary research, and commitment to teaching.
The candidate is expected to have an outstanding expertise in research areas relevant to water quality, hygiene, and microbiology, in order to strengthen and cross-link existing research strengths in the areas of infectious diseases, preventive medicine and One Health.
The position is located at the Center of Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology and offers rich collaborative opportunities with other university departments and the Interuniversity Cooperation Centre Water & Health (ICC). The accredited testing laboratory and inspection body creates additional valuable synergies between research and practical applications for the benefit of human health.
Your profile
- Completed scientific or medical education with PhD or equivalent degree
- International recognition in the respective research area
- Ambition to translate basic research towards safeguarding and improving human health
- Successful and continuous acquisition of peer-reviewed third-party funding
- Educational and didactic qualifications including supervision of Masters and PhD students

We offer
The successful candidate will be offered a tenure-track Assistant Professor position (according to § 99 (5) Austrian University Law 2002) for a maximum duration of six years. If, during this time, the successful candidate meets the tenure criteria stipulated in the qualification agreement, he:she will be promoted to tenured Associate Professor. Details are described in the university’s official career development guidelines.
The gross salary for this position is based on the collective agreement for university employees (§49, A2) and may be adjusted depending on previous work experience.
